The National Science Foundation estimates that two million skilled nanotechnology workers will be needed worldwide by 2015—one million of them in the U.S.
A broad range of industries is interested in hiring graduates of nanotechnology programs—from chemical to pharmaceutical to materials. These industries are increasingly relying upon nanofabrication technology.
Nanotechnology companies are high-tech leaders. They offer dynamic and stimulating work places and operate in a highly disciplined, ultra-clean world.
Graduates may be involved in fabricating and characterizing nano- and micro-scale structures in research and development or manufacturing environments, in sales, or in product support. They are found anywhere nanotechnology is used to make consumer, industrial, and military products.
Graduates are receiving salary offers up to $35,000 to $55,000 per year with either a two-year degree or certificate. Graduates of a baccalaureate program can expect salary offers up to $65,000. Students who choose to continue their education may reach the $100,000 range.
The NACK Alumni Committee manages a nationwide network for graduates of community and technical college nanotechnology education programs.
